Quality assurance accreditation
Moves are presently underway to establish a common wood pellet quality assurance accreditation scheme, complete with a distinct certificated brand identity, which will provide additional reassurance to users that the pellets they buy meet the required technical and quality standards. A number of accreditation schemes are currently being touted commercially and the final choice of scheme for adoption is, as yet, unclear.
At present Duffield Wood Pellets are reviewing the documentation relating to our production and quality assurance activities in preparation for accreditation assessment. However, customers should be assured that we continue to manufacture our pellets to meet the published European technical specification standard for premium quality wood pellets - the 14961-2 A1 grade.
Essentially this indicates that pellets meeting this specification are manufactured from virgin timber and chemically untreated wood residues low in ash, nitrogen and chlorine. Our pellets are analysed on a regular basis to ensure that we continue to deliver the highest quality product to our customers.

How are they used?
Wood pellets are best used in equipment specifically designed to burn them This could be an efficient and attractive room heater or a central heating boiler.
For medium to large scale projects requiring heat and water, a wide range of highly efficient pellet burning appliances are available, which may be automatically fed from a store, self ignite and be programmed like a conventional fossil fuel boiler.
Wood pellets can be used in an open fire grate or wood burning stove when fitted with a suitable pellet basket.
